Madonna and her film director husband Guy Ritchie ended eight years of marriage in a matter of minutes when they were granted a "quickie divorce" at the High Court in London.

Their case - Ciccone M L v Ritchie G S - was listed before District Judge Reid along with 16 others "for pronouncement of decree or order under the special procedure rule".

It is thought Ritchie walked away without a cent of the Material Girl's money after agreeing not to demand a financial settlement from each other.

Both parties were entitled to attend the hearing but the pair shyed away from the proceedings in High Holborn, central London.

A compromise has also reportedly been reached over their children, which will see the couple's sons Rocco, eight, and three-year-old adopted David Banda, splitting their time between Britain and the US.

Lourdes, 12, from Madonna's relationship with Cuban-born fitness instructor and actor Carlos Leon, will remain with her mother.

Ritchie and Madonna announced they were splitting on October 15, ending months of speculation. They married seven years ago at a lavish ceremony in Scotland.
